TH: Tell us about yourself.
RH: I am Rezwana Hasan (Liza), 32 years old from Dhaka, Bangladesh. My full time job is being a mother to my three year old daughter, Parisa. I am also the director of marketing for our family business. And most importantly I am an artist.
TH: How much planning goes into each of your works?
RH: My works are rarely planned. Before I start something I am filled with fear but I start anyway without any idea about how to finish. I mostly work with watercolor so I let the water and the colors takeover and at one point I start talking to the paint with my brushes and before I know it, the fear is gone. I have new ideas as I go along and the brush strokes are perpetually more confident and voila!!! I have a proper painting in the making.
TH: What’s your greatest source of inspiration?
RH:I find my inspiration on the screen, usually in photographs. I go through Pinterest and find a photo that really catches my eye and I paint it, give it my whimsical twist. I am constantly pinning and saving photographs.
TH: Once you finished a piece of art, what do you do?
RH: As soon as I finish my work, I show my family and try to get their opinion. My father loves everything I do, so does my mother and my sister in law but for an honest opinion I can always trust my brother, Bijoy. My family has always been supportive about my work and has never stopped pushing me and motivating me.
TH: Do you think artists see the world differently than people who do not create art?
RH:I think artists day dream more often than non artist people and that's where they get their ideas from. I think they feel differently about the world around them and they try to mirror that feeling on the canvas and make others see what they see.
